This is my biggest project to date, an absolutely enourmous journal, or rather two journals that fold together amongst aged, steampunked goodness.

Inspired by my own love of manually powered mechanical objects, (clocks, typewriters, music boxes etc) and by two writers who I have great admiration for, the tireless Mr Dickens who worked for the betterment of his own society, and H.G. Wells, who was one of the most forward thinking writers I have come across. There are many features to this book, the cover has a working cog mechanism that reads as you turn it, “scientium veritatis”, truth and knowledge. There is a trinket box in the back cover which you can see in the photos, and a working music box wound with a key at the back. Also a specially designed sliding box that houses 3 glass microscope slides. The concept of the journal is based around discovery, knowledge, personal curiosity and research.
